Labels, Labels And More Labels
NOTES FROM CINDY BROWN
Labels can give you clarity. They can also become your biggest excuse.
“It’s Mercury retrograde.” Cool. So your business will stop for three weeks?“I have ADHD.” Me too. I consider mine a superpower. But I could also use it to explain why I have 35 tabs open and can get 50 things done in a day. Or none.
“I’m a “Manifesting Generator” Great. What are you going to DO with that information?
There’s a big difference between, “This helps me understand myself” and “This is why I can’t.”
When you let a label tell you what you can and cannot do, you’re giving your power away. You’re trusting the label more than you trust yourself. You’re asking Mercury, ADHD, Human Design, your nervous system, your personality type, your past, or whatever else to tell you what’s possible for you.
Instead of asking YOU.
Use the information, learn from it and understand yourself better. But don’t hand it your keys. Your soul should have the final say.
And for my least favorite buzz phrase. “I need to regulate my nervous system.” Don’t come for me. LOL! Yes, being regulated absolutely, positively matters. But sometimes you don’t need another hour of breathing, journaling, tapping, analyzing, or waiting until you feel ready. Sometimes you need to handle your shit.
When shit hits the fan, do you think a billionaire CEO sits there saying, “Well, Mercury is retrograde, my nervous system is dysregulated, and according to Human Design this really isn’t how I’m designed to respond.” NO. They figure out the next move.
Then they handle the meltdown. Or clear the belief attached to the meltdown. Or maybe both, is my suggestion.
Use the label for information, NOT limitation. And definitely don’t give it more authority than you give yourself.
THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE
Pick the labels you or others have given you. (Fun statistic, 92% of our thoughts are not our own)
Then ask. On a scale of 1–10. First thing that pops in your head.
How much of it is useful information?
And how much of it is an excuse?
How much money has it cost me?
What beliefs have I built around this label that I could clear?
Then clear those babies!
Next week, you say you want change.
