The Part Everyone Is Missing

NOTES‍ ‍FROM CINDY BROWN

Well, I got hooked. I finally watched Off Campus and yes, I binged it. Fair warning, it's a little spicy, so maybe don't watch it with your kids sitting next to you.

Like everyone else, I totally understand why people are swooning over Garrett. He's kind. He's respectful. He listens. He wants to earn her trust. And, that shouldn't be revolutionary.

What I loved most, though, wasn't Garrett. It was Hannah.

Here's what I LOVE. She never abandoned herself. She wasn't trying to become the version of herself she thought Garrett would like. She wasn't chasing his approval. She wasn't twisting herself into a pretzel to be chosen. She took up space. She had opinions. She didn't apologize for being herself. AND she was completely in her power.

And ironically, that's exactly what made her so captivating.

It really got me thinking about how often we do the opposite. We soften our opinions. We over-explain. We worry about being "too much." We edit ourselves. We try to fit in. We become who we think other people want us to be.

Not just in relationships. In business. In friendships. On social media. Even with our own families.

Here's the thing: the people who are meant for you aren't looking for the filtered version. They're looking for you. The real you. The one who laughs too loud. Has big dreams. Says what she thinks. Knows what she wants.

And, isn't asking for permission to be herself.

This Week's Challenge

Notice where you're editing yourself. Maybe it's holding back your opinion in a meeting. Maybe it's changing your post before you hit publish because you're worried what people will think. Maybe it's saying "yes" when every part of you wants to say "no."

Pick one moment this week to show up exactly as you are.
