Wait, Who Told You That?
NOTES FROM CINDY BROWN
I was watching Tamsen Fadal on Instagram the other day while she was trying on clothes with her stylist. The stylist put her in this gorgeous asymmetrical dress.
Tamsen looked at it and said something like. "Oh, I never wear asymmetrical dresses because my ex told me years ago they don't look good on me."Excuse me, WHAT? The woman spent YEARS avoiding asymmetrical dresses because of one comment from one person. And the crazy part?
The dress looked amazing on her.
How many of us are living our lives based on random comments somebody made years ago?
I know I spent a lot of time clearing this. Not just about clothes. About money. About relationships. About success. About what we're "supposed" to do.
Somebody says: "People like us don't make that kind of money." And suddenly it's a rule. "You're too sensitive." Rule. "That's unrealistic." Rule. (I especially hate this one.)
Meanwhile, half the rules we're following weren't even ours to begin with. They're just old filters we accepted as fact. This is where my clearing tools come in handy. Because if an asymmetrical dress can be taken off the banned list after many years.
Maybe a few of your old rules can go too.
