Turns Out, My Phone Was The Problem!

NOTES‍ ‍FROM CINDY BROWN

Last week I took my daughter on a birthday trip.

We wanted something totally different.

So naturally, we went to a luxury dude ranch. I’m all for roughing it, as long as there’s hot water, a comfortable bed, and someone making me food from scratch.

And holy shit.

No cell service.

No internet.

No constant checking.

No notifications.

No “I’ll just answer this really quick.”

We rode UTVs through the mountains, rode horses, went to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, golfed, watched the sunset over the Tetons, and saw bison, elk, and moose.

And let me tell you something about altitude. Nothing humbles you faster than walking up a slight incline and suddenly huffing and puffing like you’re summiting Everest. Meanwhile, we’re watching 80-year-olds BIKE UP THE MOUNTAINS like they’re heading to brunch. Wyoming people are a different breed.

I have NEVER been so relaxed. My creativity went through the roof.

Ideas started coming in.

Clarity started coming in.

I got so many intuitive downloads about what’s next in my life and business.

I wasn’t trying to figure anything out. It just came in.

Then we went to Jackson Hole. Beautiful. Fun. Loved it. But WOW, I could immediately feel the change in energy. People. Phones. Noise. Stores. Traffic. Input everywhere. It made me realize how much damn noise we live with every single day without even noticing it.

We say we want clarity. We want the next idea.

The answer.

The intuitive hit.

The direction.

Meanwhile, we’re checking our phones 472 times a day and wondering why we can’t hear ourselves think.

Since I’ve been home, I’ve implemented some no-phone rules. And it has been life changing. Not because phones are bad. Because constant access to everyone else leaves very little room for access to YOU.

And your intuition usually isn’t going to scream over Instagram, texts, emails, podcasts, and whatever random rabbit hole you fell into.

It gets a hell of a lot easier to hear when you create some space.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE

Pick one hour every day and put your phone away.

Not face down next to you.

AWAY!

Walk. Sit outside. Drive. Drink your coffee. Stare at a tree for all I care.

And don’t try to “get” an answer.

Just create the space.

Then pay attention to what comes in.

You might be surprised how much you already know when you finally get quiet enough to hear yourself.
