Apparently Money Makes You An A

NOTES‍ ‍FROM CINDY BROWN

Last week I said, If you're an asshole without money, you'll probably be an asshole with money. And I promised we'd talk about it.

So here we are.

I cannot tell you how many times I've seen some version of these beliefs come up:

Money makes people bad.

Rich people are greedy.

Good people don't care about money.

You can't be spiritual AND wealthy.

If you have too much, you're taking from someone else.

And one of my personal favorites: Spiritual people shouldn't swear. Well, fuck. I guess I'm out.

But seriously, think about what happens if somewhere inside of you, you believe money makes people bad. And you consider yourself a good person. You're going to have one heck of a time allowing yourself to have a lot of money.

Because now your mind has created an either/or:

I can be wealthy OR I can be a good person.

I can be spiritual OR I can have beautiful things.

I can care deeply about people OR I can make a shit ton of money.

I can be connected to Gus (God, Universe, Spirit) AND apparently never say fuck again.

Who made these rules?

Money doesn't determine your character. Money gives you more resources to be MORE of who you already are. If you're generous with $100, imagine what you can do with $10 million. If you love supporting people now, imagine what becomes possible when you have more resources. If you're kind, money doesn't suddenly turn you into some cartoon villain sitting on a pile of cash yelling at the peasants.

And spirituality?

To me, spirituality isn't about looking spiritual.

It's not the clothes you wear.

It's not how softly you speak.

It's not whether you meditate for an hour every morning.

And it isn't determined by your vocabulary.

It's how you live.

It's how you treat people.

It's your integrity.

It's your connection.

It's who you are when nobody is watching.

You can swear and be deeply spiritual.

You can love a designer handbag and be deeply spiritual.

You can run a multimillion-dollar company and be deeply spiritual.

You can want MORE and still be grateful as hell for what you already have.

Those things are not mutually exclusive.

This Week's Challenge

Fill in the blank: “If I had A LOT of money, people would think I was ______.”

Don't give me the pretty answer.

Give yourself the answer that makes you go, “Oh shit, I need to clear that” Then clear it.

That's where the power is.

Want help? I have made clearings for the top 25 blocks that I have found after working with thousands of clients. 15 minutes a day, because we all have lives to live.
